For many of us in the last 5-6 years, the words ‘limited budget’ have become more and more prevalent. As a result, cutting corners to dial back expenditures often comes into play. There we find ourselves in the perpetual catch 22, and facing decisions that we see no choice in.

No doubt the bank account looks prettier with green in it. Many times the marketing budget takes a hit, even though we know the less marketing means less exposure. So there it is in true catch 22 form, no sales, no marketing budget, no marketing budget, no sales.

The answer is not slamming the brakes our marketing budget, but rather to use our marketing budget to its fullest potential. Use each facet of your marketing campaign to feed the others.

If you are utilizing multiple medias, ie: print, radio, website, and social media, create a loop to engage your customers. Give them more options, along with added value, and it only serves to benefit your revenue.

With print, outside of the product or service promotion, your company branding, and your traditional contact information, feed your website and social media campaigns. With smart phone use at an all time high, try incorporating a QR code in your print ad to give mobile users the option of quickly viewing your website, or facebook page on their phone.

Use your website to promote your current offerings in line with your print ads, and direct visitors from your website to your social media campaigns (ie: facebook, twitter, google+). Encourage visitors on your website to connect you on your different social media sites, thus creating residual exposures to your latest posts.

Once you gained them as an audience on social media, keep them engaged with interesting and relatable content. Social media is not so much a selling platform, as it is a means to effectively instill confidence and trust in you and your brand. Social media in business is a means to establish a lasting relationship with your fans and followers. Promote, your print, radio, or tv ads when they come out. Your audience is more likely to pick up on your ads when they have a mental picture.

Mention the location of your print ad and website in your radio spots, to kick start the go round again.

Now you might be reading this thinking you can’t possibly afford to utilize 4-5 different forms of advertising. Only you know what your marketing/advertising budget is. This article was merely written to demonstrate how you might tie your chosen methods together, and make them work to their fullest potential. A diverse strategy is paramount to a successful marketing campaign.

If you are looking for affordable advertising in a publication that promotes longer than average viewing times for your ad, with large and ever growing readership, Call Uncle Andy’s Digest today at 207-783-7039, and ask us about our affordable social media/ad package, to boost exposure on both sides.

We’ve talked about the importance of implementing an effective marketing campaign to create and maintain Top Of Mind Awareness or TOMA. We‘ve gone over the importance of having a solid brand, and we may have run on slightly about our love for the fine art of Guerrilla Marketing. We of course talk about these things because they serve to set you apart from your competition. The bottom line is, there are a lot of fish out there. The bigger the net, the stronger its construction, and the more you dip it, the greater the catch.

The components of a successful marketing effort, work seamlessly together to bring you maximum effectiveness, although seeing your options and tying them all together can be a daunting task. Uncle Andy’s Digest has the tools and expertise to make your marketing goals a reality.

In today’s technically fueled business climate, social media is an incredibly powerful marketing tool for business. Its viral nature can grow your marketing net exponentially.

On October 4, 2012 Mark Zuckerberg, the founder and CEO of Facebook, announced the number of people actively using Facebook monthly has finally reached 1 billion. That’s a lot of zeros, and a huge potential market for your business!

There are currently, as of November 6, 2012, an estimated 167,554,700 Facebook users in the U.S. alone. According to the U.S. Department of Commerce, and the U.S. Census Bureau, the current population in the United States is 314,719,219. That’s greater than 50% of potential consumers using social media, and Facebook is only one of many social media platforms waiting to be utilized.

If you are not using it already, Facebook offers several business benefits and promotion tools, many of which can be highly targeted to reach your specific demographic, such as age, location, and specific interests.

There are several benefits of using Facebook outside of their targeted promotion tools. Overall Facebook is an extremely budget conscious option for a business marketing campaign, and compliments existing strategies.

Facebook and social media in general, can be extremely useful for connecting and interacting with existing and potential clients. Whether it be through pictures, video, or open discussion, engaging your audiences attention is an attainable goal. Creating long-term relationships with other Facebook users will lend weight to your credibility as well.

Social Media is also a great avenue to push visitors to your company’s print advertising campaign and website. Doing this serves to give them a more complete picture of your company, generating more exposure, leads, and sales.

If you are interested in utilizing Facebook to promote your business in conjunction with your current marketing efforts, or if you already are, and would like to increase your LIKES and exposure, we’re happy to discuss our new social media package and show you how your business can benefit from this powerful set of tools.

The Anatomy of an effective ad by Uncle Andy’s Digest

When creating and running print ads, there are a number of things to keep in mind. An effective print advertisement will grab it’s viewers attention and keep it, giving your business maximum exposure. When planning your company’s ad, there are a few factors to consider.

Your target market:

Who are you looking for? Who’s in the market for what you’ve got? It would be almost magical if every person in existence needed what you have to offer. No doubt though, no matter what your products or services, there are those who will have a need or desire, and those that won’t. The design aspects lend tremendous weight to the effectiveness of your print ad. Different design themes and colors will attract different people, so it’s important to know your audience, and best how to reach them.

The average time a viewer will spend on an ad, is 10-12 seconds. If you can capture their attention in the first 3 seconds, you will probably keep them a bit longer.

Typically, the main visual element catches the viewers attention first. From there, if you have successfully appealed to them, they will jump to your headline, and then your ad copy. Having all of these components highly targeted to your specific audience is a major key in a successful print ad. This is why knowing your target market from the start is so important.

The focus of your ad:

Keep in mind, there is a spatial limitation to consider when creating an effective print ad. Your ad should gain a viewers focus on specific products or services you want to promote quickly. LESS IS DEFINITELY MORE. Too much information will water down the focus of your print advertisement, and ultimately lose the viewers attention. You don’t want to publish an essay in your ad. Short, sweet, focused copy is your friend. You should know going in exactly what you want to promote, and incorporate around 4-5 bullet points or sentences pertaining to the products or service(s) you’re promoting.

Do you feel limited by a lack of content? Remember, you’ve got limited real estate, and your goal is to peak their interest and entice them to purchase. Include your company’s website address in your ad. This gives your potential customer the ability to gain more insight into who you are and what you are offering.

People typically purchase because they have a need. An effective print ad should zero in on their need with focus, virtually filling their need instantly.

Through a successfully focused print advertising campaign, and an effective call to action, you will reach a major goal. You will promote purchase intent, and get a much larger return on your investment.

Gaining recognition and TOMA:

Gaining maximum brand recognition, while establishing yourself as an expert in your industry, is one of the top reasons to create your marketing strategy. Creating TOMA, or Top Of Mind Awareness puts you, your brand, and your product, at the forefront of your customers mind when their need arises. They will think of you.

Print advertising is one of the most effective ways of achieving TOMA. A highly effective print advertising campaign, will strategically place your brand repeatedly in front of your target market, and continually gain recognition for your company.

The importance of frequency:

Frequency is paramount to the success of your print advertising campaign. It is key in reaching your desired outcome. The more your print ad is seen, the more effective your campaign will be. Frequency serves to give viewers repeated exposure to your company, creating trust. Simply put, repeated exposure creates top of mind awareness, gives you maximum brand exposure, and drives purchase intent most effectively. Further, a committed frequency with your print advertising also serves to establish you as an authority, and lends believability and credibility to your claims as a business.

So in closing, to add body to any highly effective print advertising campaign, be sure to rinse and repeat!

He went to the door and found a six-foot cockroach standing there. The bug grabbed him by the collar, threw him across the room, and then left. Uncle Andy picked himself up and phoned his friend Travis to tell him the bizarre story.

“That’s amazing,” said Travis. “The same this happened to me an hour ago! This huge cockroach rang my doorbell, and when I answered, the bug punched me in the gut and left!”

Uncle Andy and Travis decided to visit their buddy Jimbo and get his advice. When they finished telling their tales, Jimbo said: “This is too weird, guys. When I got home from work this afternoon, a huge bug was waiting for me at the door. He beat me up real bad! I think we better go to the cops and get this settled.”

So the three men went to the local police station and reported their experiences. The desk sergeant just shook his head. “Sorry, fellas, there’s nothing we can do. There’s just a nasty bug going around.”
